Customizing Your Student/Facstaff Portal
The new student and facstaff portal which can be reached at https://my.alfredstate.edu is designed to allow you to customize it to suit your needs.
Customization is limited to the "Home" and "My Account" tabs and includes rearranging tiles, adding or removing tiles, add or remove favorite links, as well as scheduling and managing tasks or reminders.
Customizing the Home Tab
Locked Tiles
If a tile has a lock symbol on it as pictured below, the tile is not able to be moved or removed from the Home tab

Rearrange Tiles
To rearrange your tiles on the Home tab, hover over the name until the move cursor appears as shown below, then click and drag to the desired location

Removing Tiles
To remove a tile, click on the bookmark in the top right of any tile as shown below (if there is a lock instead of a bookmark, it cannot be removed)

Adding Tiles
- Start by clicking "VIEW ALL CARDS" in the top right of the Home tab

- Click the bookmark in the top right of the desired tile

- Return to your home tab by clicking the Alfred State logo in the top left

- You will now see the new tile at the top of your home tab, after any locked tiles (Note: Review the "Rearranging Tiles" section above to move it to the desired location)

Customizing the My Account Tab
Click on the "My Account" Tab from the navigation bar at the top of your home page as shown below (Above the tiles, below the Alfred State logo)

Add or Remove Web Links
Web links can be very handy for adding other regularly used websites to your portal that are not already there. The tile is also on your home page by default for quick access, if you click the bookmark they will be removed from the "Home" tab but not the "My Account" tab. For this example we will be adding the Pearson Lab Sign In page to our Web Links tile.
- Navigate to the page you want to add to your portal, in my case it is the Pearson Lab Sign In page

- Click on the link in the URL to highlight it (make sure the whole link is highlighted, you may need to click again or double-click depending on your browser / settings)

- Right-click the highlighted link, then select "Copy"

- Return to your portal, and click "ADD NEW LINK" on the Web Links tile

- Under "Link Title" give it a name that makes sense to you

- Right-click in the space for "Link URL" and click "Paste" to enter the link you copied earlier (if it does not paste, return to the website and copy the full link)

- Click "ADD" in the bottom right

- The link should now be listed under "Web Links", click the three dots to the right of it to edit or delete the link

Manage Tasks and Reminders (To-Do List)
You can create tasks, and set reminders for any tasks you create, tasks will appear in your To-Do List until checked off, if you set reminders you will receive a notification (bell in the top right) for the set time
- Click "ADD NEW TASK" on your To-Do List

- Give the task a name

- Set a reminder if desired, "Never" will not notify you but appear in your To-Do List until checked off, any others will give you a notification at the indicated time

- Click "ADD" in the bottom right

- The task will now show up in the To-Do List, you can hover over the clock to see when it will notify you

- The task will remain there until you check the box to the left of it's name, or click the three dots to the right of the clock and choose "Delete"

- If you click "Edit" from the three dots, you can change the name and/or adjust the notification time, then click "SAVE" to update
