Faculty/Student Help Guide

  1. Navigate to the myLearning Alfred State College login page by typing https://mylearning.alfredstate.edu into your web browser.

If you receive the below screen, choose the “Network Login” button.

If you are enrolled in more than one SUNY institution you may be prompted to choose your campus from the dropdown, select “Alfred State” from the list and then click on the blue button labeled “LOG IN”. Otherwise proceed to Step 2 of this guide.

  1.  Use your Alfred State email address to sign in and then click on the blue button labeled “Next”.
  1. On the next page, enter your Alfred State email again in the username field and the password you were provided or the one you changed your account to if you’ve already reset it and then click on the blue button labeled “Sign in”.

You will need to choose your method of authentication, this can be via the Microsoft Authenticator app, via a text or call, to your mobile number. If you do not have this set up, you will need to contact the Alfred State Help Desk at helpdesk@alfredstate.edu to walk you through setup.

On screen the authentication options will look something like this:

If you choose the first option, “Approve a request using my Microsoft Authenticator app”

You will then see the below screen:

A message will also be sent to your cell phone to open the Authenticator App, if you do not see the message, you can also open the app from your cell phone screen.

The icon for Microsoft Authenticator looks like this:

Enter the code you were provided and then click on “YES”.

Lastly, enter the code you use to unlock your mobile device, then press the button labeled “Done” below the phone keypad on the cell phone screen. NOTE: If you do not have a PIN code for your cell phone, you may be prompted to set one up in order to use the two-factor authentication method. You can alternatively use the Text or Call option instead of setting up the authenticator app.

If you choose to use Text:

You will receive a prompt like the one below on your cell phone showing a Text message from Microsoft:

You will then enter the code from the text message on the computer screen prompt in the box labeled “Code” and then click on the blue button labeled “Verify”.

If you choose the Call option, you will see the below screen and the program will call your cell phone and ask you to press a key to confirm, the key will not always be the same so it is important to listen to the entire call message before making a selection.

Once you are authenticated proceed to step 4.

  1. After any of the above steps, you will then get a screen asking you to stay signed in, you can click on “Yes” if you are on your own computer, if you are at a shared workstation, such as in a Library or Café it is recommended to click the “No” option to protect your account.
