How to Check Your Bitlocker Keys

Overview

This guide will show you how to check the Bitlocker key of any personal device you allowed organizational access on or any campus device that is linked to you.

Instructions
  1. Visit myaccount.microsoft.comUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
     
  2. Enter your full Alfred State e-mail addressUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
     
  3. Finish logging into your Alfred State accountUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
     
  4. Click “Devices” on the left-hand side of this pageUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
     
  5. Click on the name of the device you need the key for, if you do not know the device name click on a machine name to view “Device object ID” this should be the number shown on the locked devices screen.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
     
  6. After selecting the correct device click on “View Bitlocker Keys”Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)

  8. If you or a coworker who uses the device does not have it listed under your Devices on myaccount.microsoft.com you will need to call or visit the Helpdesk and request the recovery key (You must call or walk in so we can verify your identity before giving out the Bitlocker recovery key).

    NOTE: If it is a personal device, tied to a personal account, and you did NOT have it managed by your organization, Help Desk CANNOT access your keys, you need to log into https://account.microsoft.com/devices/recoverykey
