Install the Alfred State VPN with FortiClient

Overview

Follow the steps to setup FortiClient VPN on your device. This is used to connect to Alfred State Network resources when working from a remote location or unsecured network.

Setup Instructions (click images to see full size)

Open a browser and click on your search / URL bar at the top of the screen
Type https://connect.alfredstate.edu:10443 and then hit enter
Click “Single Sign On”
Choose your account from the menu or click “Use Another Account” to Log In
Enter your Alfred State credentials and click “Sign In”
Complete the MFA prompt
Click “Download FortiClient”
Choose your operating system from the dropdown menu
Click the download popup in the top-right to start the install
If you missed the popup you can go to downloads in your browser or hit the “Windows Key” on your keyboard (or “Start” at the bottom left of your screen), then type “FortiClient” and click the FortiClientMiniSetup from there.
Wait for the install to finish
Hit the “Windows Key” or Click “Start” again, once again type “FortiClient” and click on the FortiClient VPN once it appears
Click “Configure VPN”
Choose a name and description for your connection
In the “Remote Gateway” field type connect.alfredstate.edu
Check the “Customize Port” box
Set the port to 10443
Check the “Enable Single Sign On (SSO) for VPN Tunnel”
Click “Save”
Click “SAML Login”
If prompted, enter your full Alfred E-mail address, it may allow you to just select an existing account instead.
After completing the login, you should automatically connect to the VPN and see your connection information. You can minimize FortiClient and are now connected to the VPN
